Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Undefeated Money closes in on weight limit ahead of welterweight superfight

Boxers are allowed to weigh 10% over their division's limit in the WBC's mandatory 30-day weight check and Pretty Boy Mayweather tipped the scales at 150.5lbs Floyd Mayweather is close to reaching the welterweight limit - with over three weeks to go before his mega bout with Manny Pacquiao on May 2. The undefeated American tipped the scales at 150.5lbs in the WBC's mandatory 30-day weight check - just 3.5lbs over the 147lb welterweight cap. Both fighters are, at this stage, allowed to weigh 10% percent over the weight limit. They will both next be weighed seven days prior to the fight in Las Vegas when they must be within 5% of the limit. These precautions are put in place to lower the risk of fighters suffering brain damage through fluid loss when they try and lose weight rapidly between the final weigh-in and the fight. Mayweather uploaded a video to Instagram on Wednesday of him undergoing recovery treatment in a -140 degrees Cryotherapy Chamber. This method is used to help the body recover following an intense workout.
